The Shrine in Khor Virap
Inside a deep chamber at the monastery and church of Khor Virap (642 A.D.) lay shrines that are similar to those in churches all over Armenia. Candle lighting is another of Armenia's longest-surviving religious traditions and involves purchasing and lighting candles shortly after entering a church or monastery.
